We typically start any engagement with a potential client-partner by learning more about what it is they hope to accomplish and ensuring we have the capability to help them get there. Once established, we work to define exactly what we can do, in what timeframe, and then use this information to estimate costs. We have a few common ways we approach project budgets: estimated hours to accomplish tasks or deliverables multiplied by an hourly rate; establishing a fixed fee for each deliverable; and providing technical assistance by the hour with monthly invoices.
Mission Statement
The mission of Data Driven Detroit (D3) is to provide accessible, high-quality information and analysis to drive informed decision-making. Our vision is that essential and unbiased information is used by all. A member of the National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership, D3 is southeast Michigan’s only one-stop shop for publicly accessible, user-friendly data on Detroit and the region. We consult on small- and large-scale data projects with nonprofits, universities, government agencies, community groups, businesses and individuals. We also conduct free and low-cost workshops and trainings and provide a variety of free resources to the entire community.Why do you think it’s important for your business or organization to support nonprofits and community organizations in Southeast Michigan and what kind of positive impact do you think your work could have?
We believe that data drives informed decision-making. So, we work on a number of fronts to ensure the people and institutions of Southeast Michigan have access to high-quality data to inform critical decisions about their neighborhoods, cities and region. Our small- and large-scale data projects include customized services that are tailored to support our client-partners’ needs, including data collection and management, visualization and analysis, and research and interpretation. We also provide community outreach and education for increasing data literacy across metro Detroit. This includes workshops that empower community members to understand the impact of data and how to interpret and use it. It also includes an online presence comprised of a data-driven blog, resources shared via social media platforms, and our “AskD3” service for answering questions directly from our community. Additionally, we maintain a comprehensive web-based Open Data Portal, as well as a variety of free, publicly accessible digital and analog resources to the community.
