Mission Statement
David Palmer is a multi-disciplinary strategist, facilitator, convener, author, and Realtor based in Detroit, Michigan. His clients include the Detroit Regional Workforce Alliance, the Michigan Municipal League Foundation, the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation, the Engineering Society of Detroit, Talent First and many others. Before working exclusively in private practice, David was the senior director of the Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN). While at WIN, David co-authored and supported program management of over $40 million in federal, state and foundation awards. He has spoken at over 100 conferences since 2014, and successfully convened and facilitated broad based coalitions related to nonprofit workforce development, autonomous vehicles, IT talent, advanced manufacturing, and K12 to post-secondary talent development. Why do you think it’s important for your business or organization to support nonprofits and community organizations in Southeast Michigan and what kind of positive impact do you think your work could have?
I have a life-long passion for a wide variety of public service engagements. Over the years I have developed a skill as a common English translator between sectors: nonprofit, private, government, and other actors. Having spent a decade running restaurants, another decade managing successful small businesses, half a decade managing a nonprofit, and now more years running my own firm, I have found there to be value acting as a convenor and facilitator helping allies turn into coalitions.
