Mission Statement
JOURNi is an organization dedicated to equipping urban communities with the skills and resources necessary to jumpstart their local economies. We strive to build an authentically inclusive tech ecosystem in the city of Detroit, by tapping into the heart and spirit of its residents. To achieve this goal, we will provide immersive courses, youth-centered programming, beneficial employment opportunities, startup education, and socioeconomic resources. To further serve the Metro Detroit Community, JOURNi has started their Digital Solutions Development Shop this in part staffed by JOURNi students. We shape ideas into viable products and stunning solutions.
Why do you think it’s important for your business or organization to support nonprofits and community organizations in Southeast Michigan and what kind of positive impact do you think your work could have?
A great deal of the success of our work has been due to collaborating with other organizations. This is something that is now in our DNA to work with other community organizations and lend our expertise. We also jump at any chance we get to work with other community orgs because it gives us the opportunity to learn from them while collaborating with them. We also want to set an example for our students on how they can do meaningful community-based work with their skills.
