Mission Statement
Kress Consulting serves the nonprofit field to offer executive counsel for philanthropy and governance. Our services are highly customized (no boilerplates or junior associates), offering deep experience/expertise in major gifts, planned gifts, capital campaigns (over 100– ranging from $1M to $100M+), fundraising planning, capacity building, strategic planning, and work with governing boards. We only serve clients with missions we can passionately support, focused on healthcare, human services, and education, often with religious sponsorship of the nonprofit.
Why do you think it’s important for your business or organization to support nonprofits and community organizations in Southeast Michigan and what kind of positive impact do you think your work could have?
I (Rick Kress), have lived in SE Michigan for 40 years. I feel privileged and responsible to make this a better community for everyone. Nonprofits and community organizations exist to serve. Boards, staff, volunteers, and donors give time, talent, financial resources, and influence to advance their missions and work vital to a thriving community. As nonprofits become integral to those they serve, they provide passion and hope– along with skillful work, involvement with diverse constituents, and advocacy on different levels. These organizations deliver impact for the betterment of our region. I have been a partner with nonprofits that have advanced their sustainable fundraising, grown capacity (staff and volunteer leaders), and high standards of donor relations and management excellence. My customized approach has impacted smaller nonprofits all the way to billion dollar+ organizations. I’ve been a nonprofit leader of organizations, as president of Association of Fundraising Executives– Detroit and Planned Giving Roundtable of SE Michigan. I maintain memberships with Inforum and the Michigan Nonprofit Association. I work collaboratively, not by some predetermined course.
